The stables are both delightfully rural and yet close to amenities and transport. Within three miles are horse riding, golf, and two swimming pools and leisure centres. Shopping in Crowborough and Uckfield is similarly close. Both with supermarkets and restaurants as well as small local shops and markets.
Local attractions are Barnsgate Vineyard (tours and winetasting), Wilderness Wood, and Ashdown Forest (below left) home of Winnie the Pooh and the Bluebell railway, a completely restored steam train. Also close by are Drusillas Zoo, Heaven Farm and Amberly Working Museum all of which make for a great family day out. There are some exquisite National Trust properties and gardens within easy reach, such as Bateman’s, the Jacobean home of Rudyard Kipling.
When you want top travel further afield The Stables is ideally placed. The delightful spa town of Tunbridge Wells is 30 minutes drive away as is the famous royal resort of Brighton (with the Pavillon as shown above)London is also in easy reach.
When you want a meal out there is a good choice of restaurants within three miles ranging from award winning country inns, through Italian, Indian and Thai restaurants to high quality country house hotels such as Buxted Park and Horsted Place Hotel.
